How to get your free credit report

Do you know if you are eligible for a home loan? You may want to obtain a copy of your credit report! The information in your credit report affects whether you can get a home loan and how much you will have to pay to borrow the money. By checking your credit report, you can ensure that the information is accurate and up to date.

Did you know that starting November 22, 2003, you can receive your credit report for free? A recent amendment to the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) requires each credit reporting agency – Experian, Equifax and TransaUnion – to provide you with a free copy of your credit report, at your request, once every year.

How to get your free credit report:

The three credit reporting agencies have set up one central website, toll-free telephone number, and mailing address through which you can order your free annual report.
