For many, Black Friday is a holiday unto itself. The National Retail Federation "predicts shoppers will spend $617 billion in November and December," according to Daily Finance.

Count us among the guilty. While we love the entire holiday season and Thanksgiving in particular (and we start counting down to stuffing and sweet potato casserole basically as soon as school starts in August), we're suckers for great deals that we then get to dole out during Chanukah and on Christmas morning. Yes, we are equal opportunity celebrators and gifters!

Wherever you land on the "shopping on Thanksgiving argument," one thing is clear: Black Friday no longer actually means Black Friday. It's a phenomenon that now has begun to take over Thanksgiving Day. The good news for those who think it's a sacrilege to shop on Thanksgiving is that you may not have to. Some stores have already begun Black Fridayish sales and others have marked items down to Black Friday-worthy levels. Where sales may not yet be going on, Black Friday ads are being released, which means you can start planning your shopping assault. Here is all the info you need to get a head start and get some great deals.

Leaked ads is one of our go-to sites for sales, deals, doorbusters, and Black Friday news. They just posted Sears' Black Friday ad, with a couple of impressive buys, including an RCA 52" LED HGTV for $379, down from $449, and aKenmore electric dryer for $349, down from $899.

Keep in mind that if a flat screen is on your holiday wish list, you're not alone. This is one of the most popular deals on and around Black Friday every year and the deals this year are expected to be even greater than previous years, the reason: size matters.$file/blackfriday.jpg

Deal News expects 60" flat screens to show up as Black Friday doorbusters for as little as $420. That's almost half of what they typically sell for. You can see the rest of their Black Friday predictions for flat screens here.

Dell's Black Friday ad is also out, with doorbusters including an Inspiron desktop regularly priced at $729 for $499.

Get it now also has the inside track on Home Depot's Black Friday Appliance Ad, starting on November 5, with great prices on appliances including:

  • Samsung 25.5 Cu.ft. French Door Refrigerator In Stainless Steel Soon $998.00 $1,799.00

  • Whirlpool 3.6 Cu.ft. Top Load Washer In White Soon $349.00 $549.00

  • Whirlpool 7.0 Cu.ft. Electric Dryer In White Soon $349.00 $549.00

  • Samsung 24 in. Top Control Dishwasher with Stainless Steel Tub Soon $498.00 $699.00

Walmart's Black Friday ad has not yet been leaked as of this writing, however they have announced a possible new online price matching strategy that shoppers will want to take note of.

Daily Finance offers another great tip for Black Friday preparedness: "Sign up for loyalty programs and apps now so you can get promotions in your email or on your phone. Promotions are often released early to loyal shoppers. Target has a Cartwheel app. J.C. Penney (JCP) and Sears (SHLD) have loyalty programs called JCP rewards and Shop Your Way rewards."

Using Target's Cartwheel app is one of our favorite tricks for saving money year-round, and right now is a great time to use it. Throughout the month of November, a different toy is being offered at 50 percent off each day through the app. Be sure to download it in order to unlock the offers.

    Opening Times:

More and more retailers are opening on Thanksgiving this year. This is what we know so far, courtesy of Huffington Post:

  • Kmart, 6am on Thanksgiving

  • JC Penney, 5pm on Thanksgiving

  • Sears, 6pm on Thanksgiving

  • Macy's, 6pm on Thanksgiving

  • Walmart, most stores open all day

Happy early shopping! We'll be back with updates on Black Friday as we get closer or as announcements/ad leaks warrant.
